Today we are going to create clouds and rays of light. As I type this title I am thinking it may well be a sight of an explosion with clouds of dust everywhere. I will Let you decide. I have used a custom shape that resembles a cloud and that's my starting point. Later in the tutorial I used Radial blur and photoshop features like inner Glow and channel mixer. I hope you like it.

1. First of all we have to open a new document and use size 300pxby 300px. Now open the shape tool and select the shape that looks like a cloud.

2. Now select the Pen Tool and Right click on the cloud shape to make selection. In make selection click ok at 0.2px.

3. Now in the selection we have made, take a new Layer and fill grey color with the Paint Bucket Tool.

4. Now Double click on this Layer and click on Pattern Overlay. In pattern overlay choos as shown in the image below.

5. Now Go to Filter > Blur and click on Radial Blur. Select Amount = 19, Blur Mathod = Zoom and Quality = Good and click ok. See below how this effect works.

6. Now again Double click on the Layer > Layer Style and click on Outer Glow. Change the color which will match the sky. This way we provide a sky blue backgound to the layer.

7. Here again Layer style > Inner Glow and give some Effects as shown below.

8. Now again select the layer and go to Layer Style and click on Satin. Add some more Effect as shown below.

9. Now with the help of Lasso Tool make shape like light rays. Right click on the light rays and choose Feather and click at 5px Feather Radius.

10. Now again go to the Layer and select New Adjustment Layer and then Channel Mixer. Provide the settings as Red +100%, Green +134% and Blue 0%, Constant 0%. and click ok. of course I will advise you to tweak these settings and see what you came up with.

11. Here again go to the Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Channel Mixer and provide settings as Red +32%, Green +92%, Blue +2 and Constant -8.

12. Now we have to make opacity of Channel Mixer 57% as shown below.

13. Completed Image.
